Gudauri: a guide
The ski season in Gudauri, what a pass costs, and where to stay.
Gudauri is the main ski resort in Georgia, two hours from Tbilisi. The pistes are wide, there is a lot of off-piste, and it costs a fraction of the Alps.
When to go
- ·Mid December to early April is the season. The best snow is in February.
- ·Mid January is the busiest and most expensive stretch.
- ·In summer it is paragliding and mountain biking, and the hotels are nearly empty.
Getting there
- ·By taxi from Tbilisi, 150 to 200 GEL for the car, two hours.
- ·By marshrutka from Didube, about 15 GEL.
- ·Most hotels will arrange a transfer. Ask when you book.

One thing worth knowing
New Gudauri is by the lifts; old Gudauri is cheaper and quieter three kilometres below. There is a shuttle, but not a frequent one.
